I went to the school before, during and after quarantine, so I believe I got a good idea of what they had to offer and their professionalism. They offer a wide array of classes and associates degree options, which they lay out for you carefully using the Surf interface. Their Arts and Music programs are excellent, with a wonderful faculty to help you through your academic journey. Read 3,812 reviewsĪlum: Miracosta has a lot to offer for students of many backgrounds. Though the only negative thing I have to say about the school is that finding an on-campus job is particularly difficult as the higher ups in the HR department are pretty illusive, luckily though there are a lot of off campus job options nearby. The school also makes an effort to engage with their students, there are so many events dedicated to student engagement I can't even name them all. I never had a bad professor either, some tough graders, but nothing out of the ordinary from a 4 year university. My first year there I was very nervous and was learning to navigate the area and my classes, but thanks to Sac State's welcoming culture I was able to adjust quickly and thrive in my new environment, the financial aide department was easy to work with and my professors were all very easy to communicate with in person and over email. Sophomore: Overall a great university, Sacramento State has a beautiful campus, welcoming culture, and hardworking faculty that do their best to help you succeed. The school is surrounded by mountains with the ocean only being 10 minutes away! Downtown can be reached within walking distance from Cal Poly. The location of Cal Poly is beautiful as well. The preschool not only is able to make the "Learn By Doing" slogan true but as well brings in citizens to the school. Child development majors participate in this preschool by being an observer and staff to the children. Cal Poly has well has a preschool located in front of the library to support students who have an interest in education. This is for the purpose of undergrads to gain experience. For example, for animal science majors there are fields of land where horses, cows, pigs, and more live. Students are expected to learn hands-on in their field of choice. This college strives for "Learn By Doing" and is seen within every major. Sophomore: Cal Poly SLO has an excellent academic program. However, you must be a self-starter and explore and take advantage of all of the opportunities and resources that UCLA offers. In addition, the student resources are fantastic. UCLA has a ton of clubs, events and activities that you can participate in. As a student you can be immersed in your studies at a gorgeous school in the day and at night explore the amazing nightlife in Los Angeles. The dining and entertainment option are endless. UCLA is located very close to Beverly Hills and Century City. On numerous occasions groups of friends take breaks and have beach days. It is only 5 miles away from the Santa Monica Beaches. The University is surrounded by beautiful cities. Very academically challenging but with hard work and dedication the course load is manageable. Very fun school and the campus is gorgeous. Great Greek system and social environment. Large student body but the classes and professors are outstanding. This means users can ask Alexa to play a song, start a movie, or find a recipe, as they’d do with an Amazon Echo. The Fire HD 8 and HD 10 each support Alexa hands-free functionality. Winner: Tie Special features Julian Chokkattu/Digital Trends However, this is mostly speculation, so we will stick with a tie in this case. On the other hand, it’s possible that the Amazon Fire HD 8 will be supported with updates for longer, given that it’s the newer device. It’s tempting to declare this round another tie, given the use of identical software. This may not be much of a draw for people who aren’t regular Amazon customers, but then again, being an Amazon customer is probably one of the main reasons why people begin looking at an Amazon Fire HD tablet in the first place. One nice touch with both the Fire HD 8 and HD 10 is that Amazon Prime members will be able to access TV shows, films, books, music, and other media on their tablets for free. Despite this shortcoming, it’s still easy and intuitive to use, so users of both tablets won’t have much to complain about. It doesn’t come with the Google Play Store, so users need to make do with the Amazon Appstore and its more limited selection of apps. Winner: Tie Software and updates Julian Chokkattu/Digital TrendsĪmazon’s Fire tablets all run Fire OS, Amazon’s customized version of Android. This round is therefore another tie, with basically nothing differentiating the two devices. Compared to your phone, neither lens is going to enable especially detailed or dynamic photos, although the selfie cameras are perfectly usable for video calls.īased on our reviews of the HD 8 and HD 10, both tablets take shots at a similar level of quality. The Fire HD 8 and HD 10 feature the same 2-megapixel rear camera lens and the same 2MP selfie lens, both of which support HD video recording at 720p. Winner: Amazon Fire HD 10 (2019) Camera Julian Chokkattu/Digital Trends This round is a win for the Fire HD 10, given that its display is tangibly clearer and more defined than its stablemate. Still, their plastic casings should provide a fair degree of durability in the case of falls and knocks, although it would still be advisable to purchase a protective cover. Neither device comes with an official IP rating, so don’t expect either to survive immersion in water. It holds its own with more expensive devices, while the Fire HD 8 betrays its price a little. This difference is noticeable in practice, with the Fire HD 10 providing a display that’s bright, crisp, and vibrant enough to watch films and play video games. The Fire HD 8 offers a 1,280 x 800 resolution, which equals 189 pixels per inch. It boasts a 10.1-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, which works out as 224 pixels per inch. The Fire HD 10 has the advantage when it comes to the display. This may make it more comfortable to hold for extended periods of time. The HD 8 is noticeably smaller and lighter, however. Both feature basically identical designs, with the same all-around bezels that have bordered Fire touchscreens for years. There’s not much to say about either the Fire HD 8 or Fire HD 10 if you’ve had Amazon Fire tablets in the past. That said, the Fire HD 10’s octa-core processor means that it isn’t quite as sluggish as the HD 8, even if it’s hardly the Usain Bolt of tablets. Anyone used to higher-end tablets will notice the performance difference almost immediately, with apps taking longer to load on both devices, and games occasionally running slower than usual. Both come with 2GB of RAM, while the HD 10 packs an octa-core MT8183 processor, in contrast to the HD 8’s quad-core MT8168 alternative. Performance, battery life, and charging Julian Chokkattu/Digital TrendsĬompared to Apple devices or other Android offerings, the Amazon Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 tablets are a little underpowered. ¹ POSIX says that -I disables xargs's quote processing, but this is not the case in the GNU version as of findutils 4.4.2. * |Īnother approach, which has the benefit of working even if file * fails due to the command line length limit, is to use a loop or find to iterate over the files. find Command Syntax The general syntax for the find command is as follows: find options path. Sed -n -e 's//\\ This Mod would convert AOE 2 DE into the 0 AD concept but use the existing game mechanics/graphical style of a 2D spite game. So rather than wait for the current Developers or “Professionals” to build the game I and I suspect others have been longing for since childhood, I propose we create a new Rome at War (RAW) Expanded mod in the AOE 2 DE game’s engine. I am sure one day 3D RTS games will catch up to the graphical quality (personal taste/opinion) of their 2D predecessors, but I don’t think that day is today.įolks like me, have powerful new tools available to us like AGE and SLX studio to mod both DAT and SLP/SMX Graphics, these tools along with access to 3D Marketplaces (CG Trader) CGTrader - 3D Models for VR / AR and CG projects | CGTrader where we can commission or buy original/existing high quality graphics, is empowering end-users (gamers) to a greater extent than ever before to create their own content. Unfortunately, that leaves behind the art style and detail I fell in love with in AOE which used 2D sprites. While I think 0AD is an admirable endeavor that has progressed tremendously since its inception, it is a different game that embraces 3D. They abandoned the mod once they realized the limitations of the AOK engine. Originally 0AD was a total conversion AOK mod project focused on ancient history spanning 500BC - 500AD. | A free, open-source game of ancient warfare (). WFG went on to start development of 0 AD (a free open source game) 0 A.D. That interest was rekindled with the release of AOE 2 DE, and accelerated by the work done by others who wanted to port AOE to AOE 2 DE engine. The work done by Wijitmaker and others was amazing for its time, it captured my imagination and sparked my interest in Modding and Roman History. Rome at War (RAW) was a mod published by Wild Fire Studios/Games (WFG) during the days of Age of Kings. The Romero Group will put its heart and soul into this beautiful area and we guarantee it will show. Low cost, common units like Truesilver Champion also get the job done most of the time. Dragon synergies still constitute a chunk of the meta, so Paladin thrives off that. You can build a powerful setup quickly and with minimal effort. The Paladin’s decks fit perfectly with an aggressive play style. Pirate decks are built for this exact purpose, to make you unstoppable towards the late game. The key to success using Warrior is to build your deck up for a late-game push. First and least evergreen was the idea that returning the viewer’s gaze would viscerally bridge the gap between contemporary Korean audiences and the violent horrors of their country’s all too recent past. Several of the moment’s stated intentions have been negated in some way. Now that we know a man named Lee Choon-jae confessed to all nine of the killings depicted in Bong’s movie (in addition to six others) in 2019, the dying seconds of “Memories of Murder” can’t help but hit different. Unsupported by a futile national police force that devoted the majority of its manpower to suppressing the student rebellion that had risen up against Chun Doo-hwan’s oppressive regime, and kept in the dark (sometimes literally) because of despotic policies on both sides of the 38th Parallel, the kick-happy Keystone Kops driving the film’s tragicomic investigation naturally crash into a dead end. This question only applies to so many films, but none have asked it more directly - or answered it with more force - than Bong Joon Ho’s “ Memories of Murder.” A loose but historically redolent evocation of the serial killings that plagued the rural South Korean city of Hwaseong between 19, Bong’s 2003 masterpiece defrosted his country’s most notorious cold case by looking back at it as a damning microcosm of life during autocracy, and as a symptom of the powerlessness that can seep into the general population of any country whose government only cares about preserving its own tenuous control of them. Would an uncannily effective studio thriller like “The Mothman Prophecies” still be eerie enough to punch above its weight class if the Mothman turned out to be a bored accountant named Gary whose prank calls got a little out of hand? Probably not. Every film inspired by a real unsolved crime leaves behind the same lingering question: Would any of then retain their full power if their respective real-world crimes were eventually solved? Would “Zodiac” still be such a haunting police sketch of pathological obsession in a world where viewers could Google the killer’s identity in less time than it takes Robert Graysmith to crack even the easiest cypher? Probably. Even after Ronald McDonald handed him the ceremonial giant check, he still looks for coupons, bargains and two-for-one deals. Raised along with siblings by a single mother, Jon has a better understanding of getting by on too little money. Still, though, he goes to the mailbox and once a year finds a check that's nearly twice the annual income he used to earn in construction work before he was laid off in the lousy economy. So Jon is sort of an eventual millionaire (before taxes). The fast-food giant pays off the prize at a rate of $50,000 a year over 20 years. He still lives with his parents in the house where he grew up a few blocks from this McDonald's location. He was jobless before winning and remains so. The windfall hasn't changed Jon much, though strangers do sometimes recognize him on the street. This year's version of the Monopoly game began Tuesday. He was the only $1 million prize winner in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. and Highway 100 where he scored the winning game pieces last year. I talked to Jon this week at the McDonald's restaurant at National Ave. He has witnessed plenty of wins as the Brewers rose to National League Central Division champions this season, and he hopes to see many more in the postseason. Jon, a 30-year-old West Allis guy, won a million bucks a year ago in the Monopoly game run by McDonald's, and so far his only spending that comes close to being lavish has been for tickets to Miller Park.
